A Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Waste
I am sure that you have heard that phrase before. It was a popular slogan years ago for a TV commercial. I don’t guess I have forgotten it because of really just how true it is. We used to laugh about it but now we take it a little more seriously as we realize that there is a battle for our thought life.
Our lives move towards our most dominate thoughts. Our belief systems are developed from the things we think on most. Our thoughts cause us to have certain feelings about situations, people, our jobs and so much more. Protecting our thought life has become more necessary than ever before.
What You Believe To Be True Will Control You Whether It Is True Or Not
Belief and truth. These are two of the most powerful forces in the universe. Everyone is looking for some truth to believe in. Everyone wants to know that what they believe is absolutely right. I have never found anyone who liked being wrong.
There are a lot of people who would not admit it when they found out they were wrong. It is in our human nature to want to know truth.
What we believe as individuals comes as a result of gathering knowledge and arranging that knowledge into what we believe are certain facts. From there we reason through those facts and come up with a belief system. That belief system then governs our lives.

What you and I believe determines how we vote in elections, how we treat our spouses and raise our kids. It determines how we handle our business and how we deal with success and failure. It determines the decisions we make.
What we believe about ourselves is definitely what we will become. If I believe I am destined for success then I will become successful. If I believe I am a failure then I am doomed to fail.
Why is this? It is because you ultimately act upon what you believe. There is no such thing as real believing without action. If what you believe politically is conservative, your action will be to vote that way and talk that way when election time comes. If it is more on the liberal side, you will do the same.
What you believe to be true will control every aspect of your life whether it is the truth or not simply because you believe it. If you believe that your situation cannot get any better you will talk defeated, act defeated and ultimately create an atmosphere of defeat around you.
Since you and I act upon what we believe, then we need to make sure that we gather the right information and arrange our facts correctly. This is crucial to our success. If we believe a lie then we will empower that lie to become a reality in our life.
We must constantly be educating ourselves and growing as individuals. We must endeavor to build a positive self-esteem and mental attitude. We should never lose sight of the fact that we change with the information we receive. We are what we believe we are.
What do you believe about yourself? What do you see in the mirror everyday? Do you believe yourself to be happy, successful and vital to the world around you? Can you see yourself making the money you want to make? Do you believe you can live out your dreams?
The journey to truth always begins with a question. The truth about yourself comes when you begin to ask who you are and then try to discover your purpose.
Have you ever asked yourself what your assignment is in life? What problem or problems was I created to solve? What is my destiny? Who am I to help? As you begin to answer these questions, you will develop a belief system that will then govern your life.
The same is true for business. You must ask questions that will shape your belief system about your business. Questions like: Who is my target market? What unique niche does my business have? Does my business solve a problem or problems that will cause me to have a sustainable and growing business? These are just a few of the questions you need to ask yourself and from those questions you will gather facts, reason them out and determine what you believe to be the truthful answers to those questions.
You cannot get right answers from wrong questions. That is why it is important to ask the right questions. That is why it is important for you to research and be honest with yourself in order to achieve the right results. You may come across something in your asking questions and researching answers that will cause you to discover that you were wrong about something. If you do, swallow your pride and at least admit to yourself that you were wrong and then make the necessary adjustment in your thinking. Don’t allow personal pride to keep you from a breakthrough in your life or business.
I know of professional people who have missed opportunities that would have made them wealthy but because they could not admit they were wrong and wanted to hold on to a lie they failed miserably. Pride is a dream and relationship killer.
Start assessing today what you believe. Ask yourself if it is working in your life or not. That is how you determine if something is a truth or a lie. Truth will always work while a lie will always bring you down. Truth will bring positive results to your life and business while a lie will devastate it.
